PDM International bags sponsorship and ground rights for SL-Pak series

PDM International has been awarded the sponsorship and ground rights for the Sri Lanka-Pakistan series which commenced in Abu Dhabi on May 18 and will go on till May 22. All the matches on schedule are day-and-night matches to be played at the Abu Dhabi cricket stadium. This is the third consecutive time that the company has won cricket series rights in the past two years.

Earlier, PDM won the title sponsorships and the ground rights for the DLF Cup Indo-Pak series held in the Abu Dhabi in April 2006, and had also won the production, marketing and ground rights for the Euro-Asia Cup held earlier this year.

Warid Telecom, a telecom services provider in Pakistan, is the principal sponsor of the tournament. Fortune Group, a real estate company in the UAE, and United Bank Limited, UAE’s second oldest private bank, have been announced as the other sponsors.

Sanjay Lal, CEO, PDM International, said, “As organisers, we are happy with the response that we have been getting for these matches. The revenue received by the Abu Dhabi Cricket Club from ticket sales will be utilised for the development of cricket in the region. PDM International and the stadium staff are working round the clock to provide fans with a world-class event.”

“This is a huge achievement for us. We are just in our second year of existence in the Middle East and this is the third major cricketing event that we have bagged,” he added.

The telecast rights have been sold to PTV (Pakistan) and Maharaja TV (Sri Lanka). The rights for the Middle East and North America have been given to ARY Digital.
