NDTV Profit Business Leader Awards: Kumar Mangalam Birla, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Anand Mahindra  get top honours

The NDTV Profit Business Leader Awards were conferred on India’s top corporate honchos at a glittering ceremony in the Capital on July 27. Sunil Bharti Mittal was declared NDTV Profit Business Leader of the Year, while Kumar Mangalam Birla bagged the Global Indian of the Year Award. Delhi was declared Business State of the Year, while Anand Mahindra walked away with the Inspiring Leader of the Year Award.

Awards were given in 25 categories. Best Business Leader in Retail Award was won by Pantaloon Retail India, while the Best Consumer Durables Award went to LG Electronics. IT Software Award went to TCS, FMCG in Personal Hygiene Award was won by Marico Industries. FMCG Food Award went to ITC Foods, Life Insurance Award went to LIC, General Insurance Award was bagged by ICICI Lombard, Banking Award went to HDFC, Aviation Award went to Kingfisher Airlines, while Telecom Award was bagged by Bharti Airtel.

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram handed the awards to the winners at the ceremony that was attended by the who’s who of corporate India. Speaking on the occasion, Chidambaram said, “All of us in politics are accountable everyday at the micro level. You have made us accountable at the macro level. For that I congratulate you. Together we can look beyond the 9 per cent growth and go out and buy businesses. The government would be there to support you.”
