Golden Mikes 2014: Madison, Big FM, O&M, Gujarat Tourism among winners

After weeks of anticipation, exchange4media’s Golden Mikes 2014 awards were given away at a glittering ceremony held at the ITC Grand Central, Mumbai on January 31, 2014. This year’s edition saw a total of 80 awards being handed out, which included 21 Gold, 27 Silver and 27 Bronze metals, celebrating some of the best radio work of the year 2013. The glitzy, star-studded event was graced by the presence of the who’s who from across radio, marketers, advertising and media industry.

The Gold winners included ‘100 years of Bollywood - 3 Farmaish Spots’ – Thought Blurb; Gujarat Tourism – Ogilvy & Mather; ‘Shapath Suraksha Ki..... Devi Ma Ab Yaha Nahi Rehti’ – Radio Mantra; ‘Being A Mom Is Tough’ – JWT India; ‘Cadbury 5 Star-Kidnapping’ – Ogilvy & Mather; ‘Dhulai’ – Ogilvy & Mather; ‘Sulekha’ – JWT India; ‘Keede-Office’ – JWT India; ‘Reliance Digital Xpress - Romeo’ – Thought Blurb; ‘100 years of Bollywood – Dishkyon’ – Thought Blurb; Gujarat Tourism 'Kite' – Ogilvy & Mather; Matrimony Big CBS Love – Reliance Broadcast Network; Sachin ‘Madhushala’ – Thought Blurb; ‘Police-nu Oru Salute’ – Radio Mango; Borderless Radio-2 – My FM; ‘Mama ki Chhutti’ – Red FM Nagpur; Respect Women – Radio Mango; Saridon Film Review – Reliance Broadcast Network; Songs For Sisters – Madison Pinnacle; ‘Hear’s to the Happy Throats’ – OMD; and Pothole Utsav – Red FM Mumbai.

The jury was especially appreciative of the innovative way that some of the entries have used the medium as well as the creativity shown in getting the message across.

Tourism Board of Gujarat, with its well received series of radio spots, won the Radio Advertiser of the Year award with two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze metal. Big FM continued its good run and once again won the Station of the Year award with 44 points. It ended the night with two Gold, three Silver and three Bronze metals. Radio Mango had a good year at the Golden Mikes once again, finishing a close second with 40 points and taking home two gold, one silver and five bronze metals.

On the creative side, Ogilvy & Mather broke Leo Burnett’s two-year winning streak by winning the Radio Advertising Agency of the Year with 61 points. Thought Blurb finished runner up yet again with 50 points, while JWT India was third with 40 points. Meanwhile, Madison Communications was adjudged Media Agency of the Year.

Unlike last year’s zonal awards, this time around only one RJ was honoured with the RJ of the Year award, which went to Red FM Delhi’s RJ Raunac.
