NDTV Profit, ET Now mean business for Budget day

As February 28, 2011, the day of the presentation of the Union Budget, approaches, business news channels have gone on overdrive with their exclusive content line-up. Continuing with what the channels have lined up, exchange4media takes a look at the Budget coverage plans of NDTV Profit and ET Now.

Business news channel NDTV Profit has a series of special pre- and post-Budget shows lined up. These special series of programmes will see people from all walks of life speak as a nation to the most important person of this month, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

‘Budget Adda’ will see Prannoy Roy and a group of experts come together for panel discussions, which will be telecast from February 23 to 25 at 8:30 pm. ‘B School Budget’ will have top CEOs and management gurus interact with young minds. The show will be aired on February 25 at 5 pm.

The other shows from NDTV Profit include: ‘The Agenda’, aired from February 21 to 23; ‘Your Taxes’ aired on February 24-25 at 7:30 pm; ‘We the SMEs’ telecast from February 21-24 at 5:30 pm; ‘Budget Roundtable’ – a panel discussion with top editors and politicians about their Budget expectations – which will be aired on February 25 at 9:00 pm.

Apart from these, ‘Ghar Ghar Ka Budget’, ‘Budget 2011: Street Sense’, ‘Let’s Talk Money Budget Special’, and ‘Budget Fundamental’ also form part of NDTV Profit’s Budget 2011 coverage line-up.

ET Now
ET Now has divided its Budget coverage plans into Pre-Budget and Budget Day format. The Pre-Budget Specials include: ‘Budget & You – Buy Now Sell Now’, which will focus each day on sectors/ stocks likely to get impacted by the Budget, and what investors/ traders should be doing before and on the Budget Day. The programme will air at 11am.

‘Budget and India Inc - Gunning for Growth’, is a special show featuring a panel discussion, which was aired on February 22 at 6.30 pm. ‘Market Makers – Budget Special’ will be aired on Thursday, February 24 at 6.30 pm. The special programme ‘Your Budget Trades’ will be telecast on February 25 at 5.30 pm.

‘Budget and You - Policy Watch’ will feature CPM’s Sitaram Yechury; Congress’ Salman Khursheed; BJP’s Arun Shourie/ Ravi Shankar Prasad; former Finance Secretary S Narayan; Abheek Baruah, Chief Economist, HDFC Bank; and Samiran Chakrabarty, Chief Economist, Standard Chartered, in discussion with Supriya Shrinate of ET Now. The discussion will be telecast on February 25 at 6.30 pm.

The channel has also lined up some exclusive programmes for February 28. These include ‘Get Buy-Sell-Hold Tips’ from top market voices (will be telecast in the morning before the Budget session starts); ‘Budget Speech’ - for every Budget proposal get a trade call from India’s biggest market experts; ‘Post Budget Speech’ - immediately after the Finance Minister’s Budget speech, Swaminathan Aiyar and Uday Kotak will decode the Budget.

The other programmes to be aired on Budget Day include ‘Investor’s Guide Budget Special’ at 7 pm, ‘Budget & India Inc’ with Uday Kotak at 8 pm, ‘The Verdict’ with Swaminathan Aiyar at 9 pm, ‘Budget 11 @ 10’ at 10 pm, ‘Das Budget’ – a light-hearted take on the Budget 2011, hosted and created by Vir Das – at 10.30 pm.
