BARC Week 22: Flowers TV climbs to 3rd slot in Malayalam GEC market

South Indian GEC channels Colors Kannada, Asianet, SUN TV and Star Maa continued to dominate their respective language markets in the Broadcast Research Council India’s (BARC) Week 22 data released recently. Flowers TV, which was at the fourth position in the Malayalam GEC category in Week 20 and Week 21, climbed one position to bag the third slot.

Kannada
The market leader in Kannada GEC Colors Kannada retained the first spot with 378983 impressions (000s). Zee Kannada bagged the second spot with 294074 impressions (000s) followed by Udaya TV with 194813 impressions. Udaya Movies maintained their fourth position with 182196 impressions (000s). Star Suvarna came fifth with 165557 impressions.

In the programme category, Colors Kannada’s Lakshmi Baaramma got the first spot with 5380 impressions. Putta Gowri Maduve, which was lead the category last few weeks, dropped down to third position with 4704 impressions (000s).

Malayalam
Asianet, the leader in the Malayalam market, held the first spot in Week 22 with 305109 impressions (000s). Surya TV regained its 2nd position with 94709 impressions (000s). Flowers TV, which was at the fourth position last week, came up to the third position with 85311 impressions. Mazhavil Manorama came fourth with 79619 impressions (000s). Asianet Movies bagged the fifth spot with 79062 impressions (000s).

Asianet continued its dominion in the programme category as well, with its prime-time serials bagging all top five spots in Week 22 also.

Tamil
Sun TV, as last week, bagged the first spot with 802861 impressions (000s). Zee Tamil climbed up one position, bagging the second spot with 375715 impressions (000s) followed by Star Vijay with 352173 impressions (000s). KTV with 286383 impressions (000s) came fourth and Chutti TV came in the fifth position with 78788 impressions (000s).

Sun TV’s prime-time serial Nandini, which came second last week, regained its first spot this week with 10079 impressions (000s). Nayagi, Azhagu and Kalyana Veedu of SUN TV are the other serials in the top programme list. Zee Tamil Yaaradi Nee Mohini came fifth with 6815 impressions (000s).

Telugu
Star Maa continued its dominion in Telugu GEC Category in Week 22 with 500939 impressions (000s), followed by Zee Telugu with 448132 impressions (000s). ETV Telugu came third with 401674 impressions (000s) followed by Gemini TV at 401440 impressions (000s), and Star Maa Movies at 202281 impressions (000s).

In the programme category, Star Maa’s Karthika Deepam came in the first spot with 5870 impressions.
