BARC India Week 20: Star Maa regains the first position in Telugu GEC category

The Broadcast Research Council India’s (BARC) released their Week 20 data and South Indian GEC Channels Colors Kannada, Asianet, and SUN TV continue to lead the list in their respective languages. Star Maa which lost its first slot to ZEE Telugu in Week 19 has regained its position. Three south Indian channels found their slots in the Top Channels of across genres. SUN TV and Zee Telugu were already in the Week 19 list, Star Maa made its way to the Week 20 list, clinching 9th position with 490339 impressions (000s).

Kannada

Colors Kannada topped the Kannada GEC list with 332040 impressions (000s) followed by Zee Kannada with 248494 impressions (000s). Udaya TV came third with 197205 impressions (000s), Star Suvarna bagged the fourth position with 163637 impressions (000s) followed by Udaya Movies with 161442 impressions (000s).

Star Suvarna climbed one position up compared to Week 19. In the Top program category in Kannada Colors Kannada’s Putta Gowri Maduve continued its domination with 6137 (000s) impressions followed by Lakshmi Baramma of Colors Kannada. Zee Kannada’s Mahasangama Saregamapa Little Champions and Comedy Khiladigalu found third place in the top program category with 4648 impressions (000s). Agnisakshi and Shani of Colors Kannada bagged the fourth and fifth positions with 3684 (000s) and 3569 (000s) impressions respectively.

Malayalam

There isn’t any change in the Malayalam GEC list compared to the Week 19, Asianet continued to top the list with 328284 impressions (000s) followed by Surya TV with 93351 impressions (000s) and Mazhavil Manorama with 83132 impressions (000s). Flowers TV came fourth with 82908 impressions (000s) followed by Asianet Movies with 66007 impressions (000s).

In the Malayalam program category list Asianet also continued their domination, the prime-time serials of Asianet bagged all five positions with Kasthooriman topping the list with 5581 impressions (000s) followed by Neelakuyyil with 5383 impressions (000s). Vanamabadi in the third place with 5180 impressions, Bharya came fourth with 4993 impressions and Karutha Muthu in the fifth position with 4820 impressions (000s).
In the Week 19 also these same programs of Asianet clinched the top 5 program positions.

Tamil

The Tamil GEC market leader SUN TV came first with 824592 impressions (000s) followed by Star Vijay with 365537 impressions (000s). Zee Tamil bagged the third position with 355973 impressions followed by KTV with 294109 impressions and Star Sports 1 Tamil in the fifth place with 121984 impressions (000s).

Prime time serials of SUN TV found their way to the first five positions in the top programs in Tamil GEC category. Nandini, the super natural serial bagged the first position with 10578 impressions (000s). Naayagi, Azhagu, Kalyanaveedu bagged the second, third and fourth positions respectively. Tamil movie Sketch starring Vikram which was telecast in SUN TV bagged the fifth position in the Tamil GEC category.

Telugu

Star Maa which slipped to the 2nd position in the Week 19 regained the first position with 455101 impressions (000s) followed by Zee Telugu with 451921 impressions. ETV Telugu came third with 407320 impressions, followed by Gemini TV with 379715 impressions (000s). Star Maa came fifth with 200573 impressions (000s).

In the program category of Telugu GEC Anushka Shetty starrer horror movie Bhaagamathie which was telecast in Star Maa came first with 6801 impressions (000s). Star Maa’s Kumkuma Puvvu climbed one position down with 5620 impressions, Karthika Deepam came third with 5595 impressions followed by Koyilamma with 5254 impressions (000s) and Swati Chinukulu of ETV Telugu with 5251 impressions (000s).
