Leaked video shows emotional, humble Arnab Goswami addressing team after resigning from Times Now

After Arnab Goswami, the Editor-in-Chief and President (News) of Times Now and ET Now, resigned from the group, he broke the news to his team on Tuesday with a short but emotional farewell speech. On Thursday, a 3-minute video of Goswami’s speech was leaked on the internet in which the news anchor was seen telling his team that “the game has just begun.”

Contrary to his fiery image on national television, a rather emotional Goswami addressed his team, thanking them profusely and even apologising for reprimanding them.  He joked, he was humble and he said that he has thoroughly enjoyed his stint at Times Now and hoped that his team too enjoyed working with him.

As his team members gave him a huge round of applause, Arnab said, “The game starts now. Don’t ever lose your faith in independent media. Nobody can teach us independent media. It has come and I have been able to do it only because of you.”

Goswami also apologised to his team saying, “Whatever I have said to you, woh maaf kar dena. I only did it because I always wanted this channel to be up.”

In what is a clear indication of his love for work, Goswami said, “We have nothing but our professional ability in life. Nothing. I am very very grateful that you people gave me a chance to lead you. I must have done something good to get so much love from you.”

He ended his speech by assuring his team that he is not going away anywhere. “So don’t write my epitaph just yet. (It is a) Small world,” he said.

Goswami, who recently quit Times Now after 10 years, mainly became a household name because of his hugely popular daily prime time debate show, The News Hour. He also conducted detailed interviews with famous personalities on Frankly Speaking, a recent one being with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
