In a bid to recapture audience attention, KBC has rolled out a new promo for Season 8, which sports the tagline – ‘Yahaan sirf paise hi nahi... yahaan dil bhi jeete jaate hain’

With Season 8 of the game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ slated to go on air in August 2014, a 70-second promo, called KBC Kohima, has been released.

Sporting the tagline ‘Yahaan sirf paise hi nahi... yahaan dil bhi jeete jaate hain’, the promo captures a young girl belonging to the North East being questioned by the show’s iconic host, Amitabh Bachchan, regarding in which country does the town Kohima belong to. After deciding to opt for an audience poll, Bachchan tells her that the response from the audience is 100 per cent and adds that this is something that everyone knows about. The girl responds by saying that while everyone knows about it (Kohima being in India), but how many people believe it is a part of India.

Taking to social networking site Facebook, last month Bachchan announced to fans about the release of the new face of KBC, which will be launched in August. The promos for the show are expected to run throughout the month of July as shooting for the season continues.

After a disappointing Season 7 last year, as ratings dropped by more than 50 per cent despite a successful start (KBC ratings fall accentuates Sony's troubles), the show’s producers will be looking to reinvent the show in order to capture eyeballs. How the producers plan to reinvent the show remains to be seen as everyone is tightlipped about it at present. From the marketers perspective, it remains to be seen which of the nine sponsors for the show return for Season 8 and whether there will be any new brands partnering with the show in this season.
