Following the launch of ‘Maxim’, ‘Travel & Leisure’, ‘Better Homes & Gardens’ and ‘Child’ in India, Media Transasia on Wednesday announced its entry into the music magazine space with the launch of ‘Blender’. The magazine is being launched with a print order of 150,000 for the launch issue.
It may be recalled that another US-based music magazine, the hugely popular ‘Rolling Stone’, was launched in India in February 2008.
Simon Clays, Editorial Director, Blender India, said, “Knowing the history and success of US ‘Blender’, I am confident that Indian consumers would embrace the magazine. ‘Blender’ is a now product for today’s generation and also a natural extension to our men’s lifestyle portfolio. It shows Media Transasia’s desire for growth and confidence in the men’s sector in India.”The magazine has roped in Sam Lal as Editor for ‘Blender’ India, which is targeted at men in the 18-34 age group, who are single, college educated, urban and upwardly mobile.
Piyush Sharma, CEO and Publisher, Media Transasia, said, “After Media Transasia’s success in identifying need gaps and positioning the international titles right in the urban Indian magazine landscape, we are confident of ‘Blender’ going the similar success route as other international titles in the stable. The unique distribution strategy enables ‘Blender’ to launch with an unprecedented 150,000 print order for the launch issue.”
