TR Gopalakrishnan, Editor in Charge of The Week magazine, announced his retirement on Facebook after an illustrious 35 years at the magazine. His humble announcement of future plans and seeking new work dazzled many media people.
He began his career in journalism in 1976 and began working at The Week in 1983. But all good things come to an end and I felt this is the right time for me to open a new chapter in my life. My contract here ends on Feb 28 and I hope to get up on March 1 morning without having to worry about cover stories, pictures and the usual Monday morning blues," he wrote in his post dated February 9.
He also mentioned that he is looking for freelance assignments and will move to Bengaluru by the middle of the year. "I am free till then to take up any kind of freelance assignment, editing, writing, content creation. My only skills are my writing and editing skills. Requesting all of you to please let me know if you come across any such opportunity that will suit me. I am not looking for a job per se, but assignment on contract basis, liking editing articles, reports, writing reports or speeches, etc. Do keep me in mind when you are in search of a person with such skills. My personal email is firstname.lastname@example.org," his post read.
