The Ramp returns with Asian supermodel hunt

In an industry that is high on glamour quotient and has several luxury brands associating with various fashion events, The Ramp has announced another edition of Asian Super Model. The Ramp, a fashion house spearheaded by Director Rashmi Virmani, has tied up with China Bentley Cultural Development Beijing for this event. This is the third time that The Ramp is associating with this event.

Lawman Pg 3 Asian Super Model 2012 will be held in New Delhi on August 3. The aim of this contest is to discover and launch three models. In addition, these three models from India will get a chance to be part of the grand finale event in China. A total of 39 models from 13 Asian countries will be competing for the coveted title.

This year, the event is being held in association with stylekandy.com and exchange4media Group. Lawman Pg 3 has been roped in as title sponsor, while Deccan Chronicle, Atelier and Barista are the other sponsors on board.

Speaking on the contest, Virmani said, “The Lawman Pg 3 Asian Super Model 2012 is a perfect launching pad for girls who want to get into modelling in a serious way.” She further said that last year’s winner, Sushree, has been doing well and will be entering Bollywood soon.

When asked what differentiated Lawman Pg 3 Asian Super Model 2012 from other fashion shows or model hunts, Virmani replied, “We’re not interested in how ‘beautiful’ you are. It’s a typical ‘body’ contest – it’s your look, your tone, bone structure, that’s what is important. We’re not looking for a beauty, but a stunner, a hot catwalk showstopper.”

An external jury has been put in place to judge the contestants. The jury members are some of the leading names from the media and fashion industry, however, Virmani refused to divulge their names.

The event is being promoted extensively through ads in newspapers and magazines, as well as outdoor medium and on social media too.
