Sony launches a new range of car audios; attempts to reach the audience through a series of below the line activities

Coinciding with the inauguration of the Sony Vision Exhibition, Sony India launched its latest range of car audios. With features that include MBP, which optimizes the music for the listener in the car, the EQ7 which offers an array of equalizer options like Vocal, Club, Jazz and the like, and AMS that allow you to find the track you want, Sony hopes to emerge successful in a category where competition is minimal.

The new car range offers varied options such as 2 CD tuners, 5 cassette tuners, 1 Multimedia tuner, 2 CD changers and complementary Amplifiers, Front and rear speakers, Sub Woofers and Tweeters. Speaking at the press conference Teruo Ishii, Managing Director, Sony India said, "Even though our focus will be on the high end segment, our primary target group comprises of youngsters and trend setters. Infact our X-Plod range connotes this image coupled with the performance promise of powerful sound".

Sony Vision will exhibit Sony's complete offering for India including Sony's latest range of Audio Hifis - the extreme series, WEGA flat TVs including the recent launches like HA21, XJ 29 and Projection TVs, Home Theatre systems, Car Audios, Playstation, and Digital imaging products like Handycams and Digital still cameras and Mobile phones. Apart from the Sony vision exhibitions that will continue to other parts of the country, promotions for Sony also happen through their Sony World outlets. Sony also intends to conduct road shows at 10 cities including the metros and mini metros over the next three months. Exudes Ishii, "The events will be exciting and interactive and will introduce the audience to the Sony car audio experience".

The road show will feature a mobile caravan showcasing the latest Sony Car audio products with special demo racks. Another medium the company will use to reach the car audience is the Internet.

Speaking about Sony's festive season plans Ishii revealed, "We hope to achieve sales of over 75000 units in CTVs and 50000 units in audios this festive season". He also added that his aspirations were higher this year because of the forthcoming World Cup, which is bound to bring about a spurt of sales.
