Peerless to focus on value-added products, self-employment in lead up to its Platinum Jubilee

Peerless General Finance and Investment, the Kolkata-based financial services company which will be stepping into its 75th year of operations on October 25, 2006, has launched a special mnemonic to be used in the lead up to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

This dynamic mnemonic, designed by JWT Kolkata, was ceremoniously unveiled on December 30, 2005, S K Roy, Managing Director, Peerless, and has been introduced through prominent press advertisements on New Year’s day.

Essentially, it is a derivative of the company’s human chain logo depicting one of the figures therein as a stylised 75 inside an oval form. The tag line – ‘Towards 75 and Beyond’ – reflects the company’s stated ambition of emerging as “the country’s largest financial super market for retail distribution of all kinds of financial products under one umbrella, at the lowest servicing cost to depositors.”

The company’s mission now, according to Roy, “is to intensify activities, penetrating more deeply into the urban, semi-urban and rural areas for furthering the vital cause of mobilising savings with more and more new, innovative and value-added financial products and providing excellent self-employment opportunities to more and more people, especially the youth, under Peerless Smart Rojgar scheme.”

It may be mentioned here that in the last quarter of 2005, Peerless had relaunched its self-employment scheme for their agents, called Peerless Smart Rojgar. A high-voltage multi-media campaign, developed by Rediffusion Kolkata, is currently on air exhorting specific targets to become Peerless Smart Guides as a career option with huge opportunities.

As one of the leading private sector players in the financial services sector, Peerless currently enjoys a customer base of 4.5 crore and a pan-India network of several lakh field workers.
