Paytm and Bookmyshow ride the Bahubali wave; trade analysts predict it to rake in Rs 1000 cr

Online ticketing platforms such as Bookmyshow and Paytm Movies are riding the Bahubali wave. Both the platforms are offering discounts on the purchase of Bahubali - 2 tickets.

Bookmyshow is offering a discount of up to Rs 125 upon using the promo code BMS125 on the purchase of two tickets while Paytm users can use the promo code BAAHUBALI to get a flat Rs 100 cashback on a minimum booking of two movie tickets. The movie opens in theatres worldwide on April 28.

Bahubali, one of the most awaited films of the year, is expected to open to full-houses on the opening weekend. According to media reports, the film will be released in nearly 8,000 theatres across India. Many theatres in Mumbai will screen around 15-20 shows of the movie on the day of its release. The movie has already earned upwards of Rs 420 crore in distribution rights and is poised to break records at the box-office.

With no other movie releasing on the same day as Bahubali - 2, the movie is well-positioned to surely break box-office records in the southern states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Trade analysts have predicted that the movie will out do its prequel Bahubali- The Beginning and rake in around Rs 1,000 crore at the box-office. Bahubali- The Beginning collected a whopping Rs 650 crore at the box office in 2015.
