In alphabetical order, the eight finalists for the award this year are:
Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Ayog
An ambitious bureaucrat who has relentlessly worked towards making India a business hotspotâŠ. Kant is the pillar of the Governmentâs Make in India, Startup India and now Digital India programmesâŠ.while leading the National Institution for Transforming India with aplomb. He has taken charge of several national programmes aimed at catalysing Indiaâs economic growth and wants to see States being ranked in terms of media and entertainment index.
Anand Kripalu, CEO & MD, United Spirits Limited
Anand Kripalu has seen the countryâs largest liquor-maker go through some tough times and has successfully managed to steer it in the right direction with his efforts. Kripalu has driven the relaunch of the companyâs top whisky brands McDowellâs No.1, Royal Challenge and Signature to drive growth in a market that has been sluggish for more than five years.
Ashish Bhasin, Chairman & CEO, South Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network
If Dentsu Aegis Network has been in the news for acquisitions and mergers to add to its power, the credit for the strategy goes to Ashish Bhasin. Under his leadership, the company has crossed Rs 4500 crore in billings and is expected to end the year with over Rs 5000 crore. His vision to make the company a digital-first one is taking shape, while his contribution to industry bodies is significant.
Baba Ramdev, Patanjali Ayurved
If there is a brand that has rewritten the rules of marketing in the recent years in India, it has to be Patanjali Ayurved. In 2017, Patanjali had a turnover of Rs 10,561 crore, and it is already on the way to becoming a global brand. Baba Ramdev is the face of Patanjali, and has scripted a unique success story for the brand.
Bhavish Aggarwal, âCo-Founder & CEO, Ola
At a time when foreign competition is entering the Indian market with the aim of capturing and monopolizing the cab hailing ecosystem, Olaâs co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal has managed to stay on top of the game. From getting the right investors like Softbank, Tiger Global and Ratan Tata to introducing categorized services and strategic tie-ups with leading Indian businesses, Bhavish Aggarwal has done it all. From a $7.6 million Series-A funding in April 2011, Ola has raised a massive $404 million in 2017 alone.
Prasoon Joshi, CEO, India and Chairman (Asia Pacific), McCann Worldgroup
A national award winning lyricist, screenwriter, poet and adman, Prasoon Joshi is also the newly appointed chief of the Central Board of Film Certification. Under his leadership, McCann WorldGroup performed brilliantly at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this year and won 15 metals along with a coveted Grand Prix. Joshi is also an active ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and works passionately for the cause.
Sanjiv Mehta, CEO and MD, Hindustan Unilever Limited
Under Sanjiv Mehtaâs leadership, Hindustan Unilever Limited, the countryâs largest FMCG major, has added more than Rs 12,000 crore in incremental turnover over the past five years, even as it battled rising competition from new entrants. Mehta is credited with turning around the Unilever businesses in many parts of the world. He is also at the forefront of building leadership and organizational capabilities, and has accelerated both profitability and growth for HUL.
Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and MD, Nestle India
The credit for steering Nestleâs business out of crisis after the Maggi noodles ban in May 2015 goes to Suresh Narayanan. In less than a year, he managed to bring the brand back to leadership position in its category. Not only has Nestle launched a record number of products in India over the past two years, but is also entering newer categories like specialized healthcare products and skincare.
