Newspaper Publications Salute the New Indian Woman on International Women's Day

To mark International Women’s Day, on March 8, 2018, 15 major publications in India dedicated their mastheads to the nation’s women by smartly crafting a message that integrated the name of the newspaper on its masthead.

The Economic Times, India’s leading business daily, masthead read “Women Are Driving The Economic Times.” DNA, one of India’s top English dailies, changed its masthead to “Women Are Changing India’s DNA”.

Dainik Bhaskar, India’s largest circulated daily changed its masthead to read “With women empowerment the country will lighten up.” “दैनिक उजीययारा, नारी शक्ति से, प्रज्ञा, होोगा, देश सारा”.

Additionally, a full page infographic-styled advertisement spoke of initiatives taken by the government to help the nation move from women development to women-led development.

The ads, created by advertising company – Creativeland Asia, were part of a campaign by the Government of India on International Women’s Day to commemorate the enormous changes that the government has set rolling when it comes to the social, economic and health status of women.

Speaking about the innovation, Sajan Raj Kurup, the Founder and Creative Chairman, Creativeland Asia, said, “What the government has achieved in the last couple of years is no ordinary feat. And to talk about these achievements, an ordinary advertisement would’ve been insufficient. Therefore, we thought why not create an innovation that was bold and at the same time, was at an unimaginable scale. The response from the newspapers was phenomenal. We had over 15 publications from across the country, all ready to bow its mastheads to women.”
