IMA 2017: Who will be the big winners this year?

The jury meet of the 4th edition of Indian Marketing Awards (IMA) 2017 was held at The Leela Gurugram.
The objective of IMA is to advance the marketing profession and to unlock the potential of ideas, markets and businesses and realise their true value for customers and organisations.
The jury this year was chaired by Anand Kripalu, MD & CEO, Diageo India. The other jury members were: Abdul Khan, Internet Transformation Evangelist, Alef; Abhishek Ganguly, Managing Director Puma; Adil Ahmad, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Tata Global Beverages; C K Venkataraman, CEO – Jewellery,Titan; Gaurav Singh Kushwaha, Founder & CEO, BlueStone; Dr Mahesh Gupta, Founder – Chairman, Kent; Mohit Anand, Managing Director, Kellogg's India & South Asia; Pradeep Dwivedi, CEO, Sakal Media; Radhika Aggarwal, Co-Founder, Shopclues; Sanjay Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, MTR; Santosh Desai, MD & CEO, Future Brands; and Taranjeet Singh, Country Director – India, Twitter.
Speaking about the jury process and the entries received this year, Kripalu the jury chair, said, “I am encouraged by the number of entries that came in. Some of the entries had very good quality and got multiple awards from us and generated a lot of conversations amongst jury members. The jury members was all fully engaged through the process. Despite there being so many entries they did justice to each of the entries. The good news is that we managed to converge with almost 100% consistency across all the awards we wanted to give out. There were no big disagreements, and wherever there were, we managed to converge everyone so that we could have something that we are all committed behind in terms of recommendation.”
Sharing his thoughts about the jury process, Ganguly said, “It was a good opportunity to meet a lot of people who in their own right have been very successful. It was really a serious exercise and sometimes a very close call too. The jury was divided in their opinion in some cases and few lost out by very small margin, but I am glad we did that process.”
The entries this year were judged for five categories which included: Stages of Brand Building, Communication, Design, Marketing to Unique Audiences/Regulated Environment, and Excellence Awards.
“We had a wide variety of entries from multiple sectors which are consumer impacting in a very significant way. There were significant deliberations in the jury on the diversity of the entries because the industry context of each of these entries was different. There were few entries that really made the transformation in terms of exponentially changing the landscape of the market”, added Dwivedi.
The IMA awards celebrate and recognise marketing successes, and excellence in building strong brands through marketing. The award ceremony will be held on December 7, 2017 at The Leela Gurugram.
