IDBI Life Insurance launches #YoungChampsCampaign to support Badminton as a career

IDBI Federal Life Insurance Quest for Excellence and Pullela Gopichand Academy, launched #YoungChampsCampaign on Thursday. The initiative aims to promote grassroots badminton and encourage young talent in India to consider the sport as a career.

It will help youngsters under the age of 10 years to showcase their talent via a two-minute video. The winners of the contest will stand a chance to get trained at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad after going through a selection process.

Vighnesh Shahane, CEO, IDBI Federal Life Insurance, spoke about how badminton is emerging as a sport. “Badminton is the new cricket. The moment we saw Gopi, we thought to ourselves that he will change the face of badminton in the country,” said Shahane.

The CEO said that five years ago, people didn’t even know of IDBI Life Insurance. “We were probably the best kept secret in India. However, our marketing efforts, through choosing sports as a medium, differentiated us from the cluttered space,” he said talking about how brand and visibility have a big role to play. When quizzed about the investments in the initiative, he said, “We will spend our time and money in whatever it takes to create World Champions.”
