HP launches Compaq Presario V 2000 range notebooks, targets 70% marketshare

Keeping up the leadership position in the desktop market, Hewlett-Packard today launched the wide-screen digital entertainment series notebooks – the Compaq Presario V 2000 range. Ravi Swaminathan, Vice President, Personal Systems Group, said, after grabbing a share of 36 per cent in the laptop market, the firm was targeting a share of 70 per cent in this segment.

Speaking at the launch, Swaminathan said the Compaq Presario V 2000 range aimed to meet the mobile consumers’ demand for recreation, connectivity and productivity while on the go. Targeted at the student, professional or family, the Presario V2000 range is a take-anywhere entertainment companion, designed to meet the consumer’s growing appetite for anywhere, anytime digital entertainment. The two new notebooks – Compaq Presario V2036AP Portable and Compaq Presario V2035AP Portable are priced at Rs 69,990 and Rs 54,999, respectively. These would be retailed through 250 premium retail outlets across the country, he informed.

Elaborating on the features, Swaminathan said the new notebooks are equipped with a host of features that make them ideal entertainment companion. The notebook has a wide screen with a WXGA resolution of 1280X 768 combined with Intel 855 GM chipsets. The 3D and 2D graphics displayed on the V2000, deliver real life environment and character effects. Using the six-in-one digital media reader, the user can quickly move photos, movies and files between the V2000 and compatible PCs, hand-helds, MP3 players and cameras. The V2000 can also be connected to the TV and stereo.

However, referring to the promotional plans, Swaminathan said that the product would be extensively promoted through print ad campaigns, which will hit media tomorrow.
