Gujarat has set a new trend for the year 2015 by opting for the simple and economical CNG cars while the rest of the states were pre-occupied in selling their old and un-used products online, to boost their savings. As per the survey, the business-centric and discerning citizens of Gujarat set the perfect example of how to cut expenses yet travel in style, by showing highest demand for used-CNG cars as compared to rest of India. Surat tops the chart with a demand of 18.35%, followed by Rajkot (16.45%) and Ahmedabad (13.14%).

When it comes to the most in-demand used car models, Maruti Suzuki Swift is soaring high on the popularity scale followed by Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki 800, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Hyundai i10, Hyundai Santro Xing, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai i20, Honda City and Toyota Innova. Also, it comes across that a whopping 84% of auto-fanatics search for used-cars costing below Rs 5 Lakhs and a meager 0.67% of car-lovers prefer the automobiles falling in the bracket of Rs40 lakhs and above. The survey observes that while more than 60% consumers in tier-2 markets opt for cars ranging below Rs3 lakhs, almost 50 % of buyers in tier-1 markets go for those costing above Rs3 lakhs. Also, among tier-1 cities, Mumbai tops the demand chart for cars priced over 10 lakhs.

According to the study, Diesel cars are more favored in tier-1 cities owing to the higher average distance travelled, whereas Petrol cars are more dominant in tier-2 cities. If seen at the broader level, Petrol cars dominate the preferences of car-lovers by 51.43%, followed by Diesel (40.84%), CNG (4.20%), LPG (3.51%) and Electric (0.20%). As opposed to this trend, the survey reveals that Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Nashik and Hubli show more inclination towards used-diesel cars.

As far as the body-type is concerned, while Hatchback cars dominate the demand scale in tier-2 cities, tier-1 cities have a significant leaning towards Sedan cars. carries out such detailed surveys in order to comprehend the Indian automobile market in a better way and the trends being adopted by its patrons.
