Amit Jain, Regional General Manager of Uber-APAC region will now have autonomy to head the APAC region of the ride sharing company, reporting directly to Chief Operating Officer, Barney Harford.
Previously Jain reported to Andrew MacDonald who headed the Latin America and APAC businesses of the company, Macdonald will now be in charge of Uberâs business development and rides operations in the Canada, US and Latin America.
Commenting on the development, Macdonald credited Jain with building the companyâs impressive business in India and said, âAs the head of APAC for the rides business, he can now extend his impact across new geographies and teams, to help us navigate new shared competitive pressures in ANZ, and new strategic momentum around unlocking North Asia.â
Macdonald also added that âThere are a lot of learnings from India and South Asia that can help Uber successfully navigate through this dynamic business environmentâ.
