Celebrity reputation plays a big role in him/ her getting brand endorsements, as soon as the verdict on Salman Khan hit-and-run case was out yesterday, the first question that crossed people’s minds was how will it affect his current roster of endorsements. Khan’s endorsements had soared up after he cleaned up his bad boy image and launched Being Human, (NGO) clothing line the proceeds of which go to charity.
Rs 500 crore are said to be riding on Khan; this includes films and endorsements. Khan’s current roster of endorsements include Revital, Yatra c.om, Thums Up, Chlormint, Suzuki Motorcycles and Wheel . Other brands that he endorses are PN Gadgil Jewellers, Astral Pipes, Relaxo Hawai, Dixcy Scott.
His estimated fee per endorsement is Rs 1.5 crore.
A statement from Coca-Cola said, “We hold the court verdict in the highest regard. We are evaluating the next step.” It is likely that brands who have signed Salman Khan as ambassador may be hit financially and may also hold back their ad campaigns since the public image of the actor has been considerably tarnished following the verdict.
Salman Khan had earlier been involved in the Black Buck case in 1998.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s verdict has been captured by international media with great interest with likes of Time, CNN and The New York Times doing pieces on his arrest.
