Smartphone brand, Comio to finalise integrated communications partner next week

Smartphone brand Comio is scouting for an integrated communications partner. The incumbent agency is Delhi-based August Communications. It will finalise the agency just ahead of the expansion into the South and East regions in May 2018.
Comio had awarded its 360-degree brand and communication mandate across all media including ATL, BTL and digital to August Communications in August 2017. Confirming the news to exchange4media, a spokesperson from the smartphone brand said that the final evaluation of the pitches is on right now. “We will make an announcement by next week,” the spokesperson said.
The brand which has positioned itself in the value-driven mid-segment smartphone category has set aside Rs. 250 crore for its marketing initiatives for 2017-2018. The spokesperson said that there is no change in the budget as of now. Until now, Comio was only present in around 1300 cities across North and West India with 20,000 stores. The pan-India expansion plans indicate bigger marketing spends.
Industry insiders believe that the account would be of substantial value. A source close to the development hinted at the possibility of a TVC.
Comio CEO, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, had told exchange4media in an interview last year that unlike competitors like Oppo and Vivo, “Comio will not overspend to gain visibility.” Comio, primarily an offline brand is focussed on building its brand on outdoor and experiential marketing along with influencer marketing.
