The latest edition of the exchange4media Conclave is scheduled to take place on September 24 in Mumbai. Apart from witnessing inspiring sessions by distinguished speakers and guests at the event, the marketing and advertising world is also keen to know who will win the Influencer of the Year Award.
The media and marketing industry is filled with mavericks who have demonstrated vision and leadership over the years.
Initiated in 2016, by the exchange4media group, the award honours visionaries who have transformed the industry and inspired the next level of growth while progressively using innovative technology for business achievements.

Year 2016: Raj Nayak, Former COO, Viacom18
Raj Nayak, who quit Viacom18 earlier this year, announced the launch of his venture - House of Cheer - earlier this month.
During his stint at Viacom 18, Nayak steered the Group’s flagship brand Colors to the leadership position as its CEO for over 7 years. During this period, he is known to have heralded some of the biggest shows in the Indian television industry. He was also entrusted with the entire revenue management for the Viacom18 group as its Chief Operating Officer in 2017.
Nayak has an excellent reading of the changing consumer behaviour and combines it with business objectives. He is known to have turned around the fortunes of several media companies in his 25-year-long career in the industry.
Before Viacom18, Nayak set up Aidem Ventures, an independent media consulting and sales and marketing company. Prior to that, he was CEO of NDTV Media Limited for over seven years. Nayak was also the founding member of STAR TV Group in India, where he spent close to 10 years. As Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, he was responsible for strategy, packaging and marketing for all STAR channels and the group’s revenue.
Year 2017: CVL Srinivas, Country Manager, WPP
CVL Srinivas has been a guiding force in the media industry for decades now. His life in advertising began at Lintas, Bengaluru, where he worked on brands like Brooke Bond and Lipton. From Lintas, he moved to HTA (Hindustan Thompson Associates, now J. Walter Thompson) where he was part of the start-up team that came together to form Fulcrum - the dedicated media planning and buying team for Hindustan Unilever Limited in 1995. His effort to set up Fulcrum, now, Mindshare Fulcrum has been one of his biggest contributions to the advertising fraternity.
During his stint at GroupM, Srinivas built a reputation of being an astute observer of the media and advertising industry. He was also instrumental in setting up Maxus in India before expanding it to APAC. Under his leadership, GroupM witnessed a healthy growth and consolidated its position as the leading media agency in the country. During his career, spanning over 20 years, Srinivas worked with other leading media agencies in India like Starcom MediaVest and Madison World managing clients such as Coca-Cola, Cadbury, Vodafone, Samsung, Nokia and Perfetti to name a few.
Year 2018: Virendra Gupta, Founder & CEO, Dailyhunt, and Umang Bedi, President, Dailyhunt
As founder of the company, Virendra Gupta pre-empted the consumer internet ecosystem as we know it today. He acquired news aggregator Newshunt towards the end of 2011, rebranded it into Dailyhunt in 2015, making it a leading platform for content in local Indian languages.
In a career spanning two decades, Gupta has served in various leadership roles across the industry and turned entrepreneur in 2007. Verse Innovation, the parent company of Dailyhunt, was launched in 2007 as a value-added service company. Gupta is a key influencer and a thought leader in the consumer internet world, shaping the dynamically changing industry in India.
Umang Bedi, former Facebook India Head, joined this rapidly growing organisation as its President in 2018. Leading the strategic thinking and operational business delivery of the organisation, he has been instrumental in developing the roadmap for the next billion users at Dailyhunt.
