After Chutti TV, Sun Network to launch kids’ channels in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada

After consolidating its position in the kid’s television space with Chutti TV, Sun Network is set to roll out kid’s channels in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada languages. The Malayalam channel will be called Kochu TV, while the Telugu channel will be known as Khushi TV. The Kannada channel has been christened Chintu TV.

Speaking on the new channels from Sun Network stable, Kavitha Jaubin, Channel Head of Chutti TV, said, “We will be launching all the three channels in the next couple of months.”

“Sun Network always had a unique style of approaching the people. Since these kids’ channels are also from Sun TV’s umbrella, they will definitely do well. These channels would not be exact prototypes of Chutti TV, on the contrary, they would be customised to suit the needs and moods of the children in Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Besides offering international content, we would strive to be as local as possible,” Jaubin further said.

She claimed that Chutti TV had been doing extremely well since its launch. “We never expected this much response to a kid’s channel in Tamil Nadu. In a short span of time, Chutti TV has mesmerised the children and we intend to replicate the same success formula in other languages,” Jaubin added.

As of now, all the content aired on Chutti TV, except for some cartoon shows, are produced in-house, and Chutti TV is planning to outsource the content in the future. “Several production houses are approaching us but, we are waiting for some really good content. As of now, most of the shows on Chutti TV are entertainment-oriented, but in the future we would like rev up the content with a few informative shows,” Jaubin said.

It may be recalled that Kalanithi Maran promoted Sun Network had launched the 24-hour kid’s channel Chutti TV on April 29, 2007.
