Zee to convert its entire bouquet of channel into pay channels

Zee will convert its entire bouquet of channel into pay channels. The company took this decision after studying detailed reports put together by market research as well in-house agencies. Presently, only two channels of Zee—Zee News and Zee TV are not pay channels.

Zee’s decision to take it channels to pay model is in response to a similar move from rival companies like Sony and Star. During the third quarter, ended December 31, 2001, revenues for Zee Television Limited increased by 10 per cent. Net profit for the company witnessed a negative growth of 25.8 per cent. Zee MGM, a 70:30 venture between Zee and MGM, has got off to a good start. The channel has started generating advertisement revenues within a very short period of time.
