Star TV plans to rope MSO to service C&S in Kolkata

Star TV plans to rope another multiple system operator (MSO) to service cable and satellite (C&S) subscribers in Kolkata and some of its surrounding areas. For this the channel may approach an MSO like Hathway to invest in setting up a base in Kolkata.

Star TV expects that such move can probably help inject an element of competition in a situation where cable operators under RPG Netcom control the bulk of the network. In effect, therefore, it faced a monopolistic situation which is at variance with the climate prevailing in other regions or metros.
