Sree TV plans to go on air in November

Sree TV, a 24-hour Telugu entertainment channel, plans to go on air in November this year. Andhra Pradesh-based Vasavi Communications and Mootha Gopalakrishna are promoting the channel. Sree TV positioned as an entertainment channel, will also offer news, music, politics and religious content. Sree TV will initially be a free-to-air channel.

Vasavi Communications has invited participation for its private placement to fund the launch and expansion plans of Sree TV. Overall, there are 50 lakh shares being offered at Rs 20 per share aggregating Rs 10 crores.

Two channels — Gemini and ETV, primarily dominate the Telugu satellite market. The market also has Teja, which is a 24-hour music channel. All these put together account for approximately Rs 250 crores of advertising revenue. While ETV controls a large chunk of the advertising revenue, Gemini has been registering impressive growth figures.
