Philips hires DDB Needham

Philips Electronics abruptly switched advertising agencies, naming DDB Needham Worldwide as its primary ad agency and ending its relationship with Euro RSCG Worldwide.

In a prepared statement, Philips said although the RSCG campaign was "award-winning", the maker of consumer electronics had "decided to offer other agencies the chance to take a fresh look at the brand". The main driver for this change is Philips’ continued ambition to further build its global premium brand position faster and more consistently throughout the world.

DBB, a unit of the Omnicom Group, will take on advertising for the Philips Group as a whole, and for its consumer electronics, semiconductors and components divisions.
