Music Broadcast to launch Radio City in Bangalore on July 3

The Music Broadcast Pvt. Ltd. (MBPL) is all set to launch its private FM channel under the brand name ’Radio City’ in Bangalore on July 3, even as controversy shrouds over the role of STAR TV in the whole affair.

While STAR TV has described its role as a mere content provider and a sales and marketing partner, industry analysts feel that the move is a back door entry into FM radio sector by a foreign player. Refuting the charges, Sumantra Dutta, COO (radio division) STAR India Ltd. said: “For STAR TV it’s an opportunity to reach the people through a new media, after having consolidated its position in television.”
