KBC to be replaced by soaps on Thursdays

Kaun Banega Crorepati will be replaced by soap operas on Thursdays beginning April 26. From May 2001, however, Amitabh Bachchan will host kids in Junior KBC, which is slated to be telecast on Sundays. On Thursdays, it will telecast a new serial Jee Mantriji, besides shifting Kora Kaagaz also to the 9 pm slot on this day.

The proposed 'holiday' of KBC, would be in keeping with what was the norm worldwide, where gameshows were time-bound, for 13 weeks or more, and routinely went off air for the same length of time before returning to revived audience interest and advertising.
