International: AOL Time Warner, Samsung form marketing alliance

AOL Time Warner and Samsung Electronics announced a marketing and technology development deal in which the companies will collaborate on an AOLTV set-top box with the TiVo recording service. Under the multiyear agreement, the Korean consumer electronics company will be promoted across AOL Time Warner's print, TV and online brands.

Samsung DVD players will be promoted in People, Entertainment Weekly and Sports Illustrated magazines and on America Online and Moviefone.com, while the marketer's forthcoming mobile phone will also be touted through an integrated marketing campaign.

The AOLTV product will include access to instant messaging, e-mail and Web browsing through television sets. In addition to the set-top box, the companies will "explore digital convergence product areas," including wireless, Web terminal and e-mail printers.
