GV Films planning to enter into Internet TV market

G V Films Limited is planning to enter into the untapped Internet TV segment. The company has tied up with Ahmedabad based Top Cassettes Ltd., to provide requisite software programming and animation for streaming work.

G V Films has at present a library of over 6,000 films, which would be put on the Internet. The company has already tied up with Pentamedia Graphics for the supply of 2,000 South Indian movies with Internet webcasting rights for hosting the same on their portal Numtv.com.. The number of Indian feature film titles for which the company has webcasting rights has exceeded 6,000.

G V Films has recently formed a venture with the UK-based Zen & Art of Client Server Computing Limited, for the supply of 4,000 Hindi movies in the beta format to commence video-on-demand through Internet. The portal is expected to commence by the end of the year.

G V Films has also tied up with USTV serial production company, Springing Tiger Production Inc, for the production of 440 episodes of TV serials of 45 minutes each.

G V Films had an impressive growth of 680 per cent in 1999-2000 fiscal year posting a net profit of Rs 1.04 crore against a loss of Rs 6.58 lakhs in the preceding year.
