CBI sleuths call at UTV office

Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the office premises of UTV on Monday in connection with Doordarshan's granting of telecast rights of cricket World Cup in 1996 and tennis tournaments in 1997 to the pan-Asia media and entertainment company. Apart from UTV, CBI is reported to have raided other private TV companies such as World Tel Inc, Stracon and World Tel Sports. The raids took place following clearance given by the CBI's legal cell to the anti-corruption unit (ACU).
