Cable operators to black out Zee

The truce between SitiCable and Wincable seems to be over, with several Wincable-associated cable operators deciding to black out Zee channels in Delhi and adjoining areas. According to the cable operators, over 75 per cent of the viewers in Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Noida will be effected by the black out.

According to SitiCable, this was just an attempt by a clutch of disgruntled cable operators who were unable to pay the requisite subscription fees to Zee, to try and armtwist the channel.

According to industry sources, many cable operators were resentful in the city since the news came out about Zee planning to increase the cost of its bouquet from Rs 32-35 to Rs 42-45.

Meanwhile, the Star-associated Wincable has also sought to up the connectivity levels in the areas that Spectranet provides cable services.
