Over 5000 runners participate in Lokmat Aurangabad Marathon

Lokmat newspaper recently organised one of Marathwada’s biggest marathons in Aurangabad. Kavita Raut, National Long Distance Runner and Common Wealth, Asiad Champion and Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Aurangabad flagged off the marathon with over 5000 runners.

A Health & Fitness Expo was also conducted on December 10 for the participating marathon runners.

Commenting on the occasion, Karan Darda, Executive Director, Lokmat Media, said, “We are delighted to initiate Marathwada’s biggest marathon in the tourist capital of Aurangabad. This kind of initiative helps us connect with our readers. The build-up of last four months has created a platform of celebration in Aurangabad and it was delightful to see the city come together on a December morning. With international and national runners, it promises to be a practice ground for the Mumbai Marathon in January. ”

The run consisted of 21 km – Half Marathon, 10 km – Power Run, 5 km – Fun Run and 3 km - Family Run covering the scenic and heritage locations of Aurangabad.

Lokmat Aurangabad Marathon was supported by the following partners: Jio, Ola, Jet Airways, Red FM, Aurangabad Police and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, Ajmera Builder, Wockhardt Life Wins, Saffron Landmarks, MK Constructions and YOU TOO CAN RUN, CIIGMA Hospital, Sunrich Aqua, iSense, KREAMNKRUNCH, Windsor Castle, AURANGABAD BLACK BUCKS and GET GOING, and Abhishek Advertising.
