Veteran journalist donates Rs 20 lakhs to families of media persons
Veteran journalist Dr. Suresh Mehrotra (72) runs a nonprofit website called ‘Whispers In The Corridor’ and has helped out the media community with his selfless donation for about three years now. ABP News's Madhya Pradesh Chief Brajesh Rajput brought this to forefront on social media. Here’s what he said:
In 45 Bungalows colony of Bhopal lives senior journalist Dr. Suresh Mehrotra who is 72 years old. After taking several editorial positions in many Hindi and English newspapers in his early days of professional career, he runs a website called Whispers In The Corridor since last fifteen years. On the portal reports related to the appointment, transfer and change of officers running the government are filed.
This is the number one website of such news in terms of reports, rankings and earnings. What’s so unique about Mehrotra that he also takes care of the school-college fees of his employees’ children from his own pocket. Whether the child is in DPS or in an engineering college.
Also, in Bhopal some journalists run an online group society in which fellow journalists give financial help to the families of journalists who are either sick or die an untimely death. The society with nearly hundred members has given financial help to about fifty people in three years and Mehrotra sends five lakh rupees in the first month of every year. Recently, he donated a cheque of rupees five lakh to the society and blessed us. When we sat down to calculate, we found out that Daak Saab has helped our society with twenty lakh rupees in these three years till now.
In the times when, the owners of big publications who make huge profits do not care for their employees, will you not salute the man who runs a small website and still takes care of concerns of his journalists’ community?
