Zee, too, taps cricket fever with Zeecric.com

With Cricket World Cup just nine days away, there is an overload of the game in the air waves as well as cyber space. One of the latest such initiatives is from Zee News, which has launched a cricket news site, Zeecric.com.

The site was launched by cricketers Maninder Singh, Nikhil Chopra and Vinod Kambli, who along with Zaheer Abbas and Steve Waugh, are among some of the regular contributors to various columns on the website.

Harish Doraiswamy, CEO, Zee News Ltd, said, “Cricket is a greatest passion of Indians across the world, and through our initiative we are thrilled to be a part of it.”

The website claims to cover every aspect of the game. Along with comprehensive information on the game, the site’s visitors can enjoy easy navigation and real time updates about the happenings on the field.

Apart from the sections, which are dedicated to specific areas of interests like One Day Internationals, Test Matches, Twenty20, First-Class Cricket and Women’s Cricket, every international team enjoys a separate space on the site.

Commencement of biggest Cricket event will see live coverage of multiple matches embellished with graphs, manhattans, wagon wheels, ball-by-ball commentary and a live scorecard on the site. Readers can relive the highlights through excerpts from the live commentary on the site. A Fan’s Diary gives readers a chance to rub shoulders with the pundits of the game by refuting or rebuffing their opinions by recording their views online.

Zeecric.com also has a section devoted to the past and the present of the game in India from its humble beginnings during the ‘Raj’ and to its present ‘cult’ status in the History of Indian Cricket.
