UrbanClap gets Ratan Tata on-board

UrbanClap, India’s largest services marketplace has got the backing of India’s corporate czar-- Ratan Tata, who has invested in the company in his personal capacity. 

UrbanClap is a marketplace to hire trusted professionals for local services in other words a single destination to hire from amongst 80+ services. It uses technology and smart processes to structure the highly unorganized services market in India. UrbanClap aspires to make hiring a service professional as easy and straightforward as Amazon and Flipkart have made buying products. The company is operational in six cities – NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad – serving thousands of customers each day through its network of 25000+ service professionals.

The investment also reflects the huge business potential of the services market in India. Ratan Tata’s personal investment in UrbanClap will help the company scale up its operations and enable it to create lakhs of new jobs for service professionals, thereby creating a new breed of micro-entrepreneurs.
