samachar4media (s4m), the Hindi website for news on the media, advertising, marketing and PR industry from the exchange4media Group, successfully completed one year on February 15, 2011. In a year of function, s4m has opened up avenues into the media world, not as a subsidiary of the parent website, but more as one with a distinct identity.

During the last one year, s4m has organised some well-acknowledged roundtable discussions on various burning issues of the industry and had exclusive coverage of breaking news on all media fronts. In the process, the website has made the media world easily accessible in Hindi to one and all, in step with the philosophy of the exchange4media Group.

Speaking on the completion of a year, Anurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media Group, said, “It is a proud moment that the youngest brand from the exchange4media Group – samachar4media.com – is already a year old. We had started s4m to make a difference to Indian language publishing and Indian language media per se. While s4m.com is in Hindi, it represents the broader spectrum of Indian language genre and in the coming years, more of that would be seen in the site’s initiatives.”

Batra further said, “One key objective of samachar4media is to contribute to, and uplift, the quality of journalism in Hindi language media, and so far we have received tremendous response from the Indian media fraternity.”

On its successful journey, s4m has also got several positive media views. Paresh Nath, President & Publisher, Delhi Press, remarked, “As per the circumstances, this is a very good website. Its daily newsletter keeps us updated with the latest happenings of the industry. I particularly liked the team work of the s4m team.”

Emphasising on the need for more research based news for the industry, Alok Sanwal, Editor & Project Head, i-Next, said, “s4m has come up as an authentic source of industry related news. It has changed itself according to the times and gives news quickly. However, though it covered the IRS results comprehensively, it needs to publish more news based on researched data.”

Neeraj Sanan, VP, Marketing and Distribution, MCCS, commented, “In such a short span of time, the work that s4m has done, nobody could yet. However, the portal has yet to travel a long journey. The readers of the website are journalists, hence you should do more research with them, involve them, do events and all in all become their voice.”

Giving media planners’ point of view, Satyajeet Sen, CEO, ZenithOptimedia, said, “While on the content part s4m has performed very well, I suggest it to focus more on regional players and advertisers.”

Meanwhile, samachar4media is set to organise more roundtable discussions and seminars in the year 2011, and will give its readers more comprehensive, exclusive and authentic news on various industry issues.

The exchange4media Group is the leading news player in the Indian media, advertising and marketing space.
