Reliance Jio Test SIM Does an Apple; Long queues prove appetite for #DigitalIndia

‘Jio Jio Jio’ seemed to be the most trending word across major parts of India over the last few days. Eager to test the Jio Test SIM, hundreds have been queuing up at their neighbouring Reliance Digital store as early as 2am.

Over the past 24 hours, Reliance Digital stores are witnessing their own Apple moment – a phenomenon unheard of in India.

Riding on the #DigitalIndia wave, the current technological landscape of the country has millions of data-hungry youth, eager to get their hands on technology that empowers them. 

The testing phase is now progressively being extended to include smartphone users of various brands on the Jio new 4G-LTE, all-IP based network. These need to be tested across various ecosystems and a large set of users. 

The Jio Preview Offer (JPO) entails a Jio test SIM for buyers of 4G smartphones across brands such as Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Asus, Micromax, and Alcatel. 

As provided in the license, Jio is testing its services on various handsets.  Under JPO, users get unlimited access to Jio services for 90 days from the day of the activation of the Jio test SIM. 

The offer is also available on Jio’s Wi-Fi hotspot devices, JioFi. So far, the JioFi was available only to RIL employees. As evidenced from comments on #MyJioFiStory, the device has evoked flattering reviews for its portability and ability to connect multiple devices and feeds. 

Jio services include unlimited HD Voice calls & Video calls, unlimited SMS, unlimited High-Speed Data and a host of Jio Premium apps such as JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioMags, JioXpressNews, JioDrive, JioSecurity, and JioMoney. Until recently, the JPO was open exclusively to Jio employees, family and friends, vendors and partners.
