Reliance Communications ties up with Sulekha.com for city-specific search
Reliance Communications has announced a tie-up with online social networking and local commerce website Sulekha.com. This association will help Reliance Mobile customers to carry out city-specific search on their mobile phones, which will be powered by Sulekha.com.
The tie-up will also provide Reliance Mobile phones subscribers with the option of downloading the city-specific details onto their mobile handsets and further share information with other users. Aimed at increasing the functionality of the mobile phones, the search option will appeal to the customersâ varied needs and interests. With Sulekha.comâs access to over a million listings across eight cities, customersâ access to local information will be highly enhanced.
The service is available on all Reliance Mobile World-enabled handsets and costs Rs 3 per search. Reliance Mobile users have to click on CitySearch in Reliance Mobile World to glean information pertaining to a specific city. This is essentially the mobile extension of the Yellow pages section of Sulekha.com
Mahesh Prasad, President-Applications, Solutions and Content Group, Reliance Communications, said, âThis significant alliance with Sulekha.com comes as a boon to our customers. It will not only save their precious time and effort, but also empower them to have city-specific information on their fingertips. Local residents, tourists, taxi drivers, students, cops, tour guides, business travellers and many other segments of our society can benefit from this service. I am sure with the increase in its usage, difficulty of obtaining city specific information will become a thing of the past.â
Said Satya Prabhakar, Founder and CEO, Sulekha.com, âThe tie-up with Reliance Communications is an important milestone in Sulekha.comâs innovative journey. We admire their customer-centric vision and values, which are very close to our own philosophy. The tie-up is part of our ongoing efforts to become a leading new media company and to reach out through all possible media to our end users and give them a consistent experience on better convenience and high quality.â Currently, the search results are limited to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad, and more locations will be added. This application further enriches the existing portfolio of search products like âContent searchâ, which allows a user to search for Reliance Mobile World content.
Another similar application on the Reliance Mobile World is the âCity Guideâ, which offers viewers utility information such as listing of airlines, hotels, movies, hospitals etc. on nearly 34 cities in India. These services are unmatched in the country in terms of their accessibility and availability in real-time. Furthermore, Reliance Mobile hosts one of the largest databases of user-generated or posted classifieds on mobile.
