Mobile app platform Snaptu, whose apps are designed to run on featurephones like most Nokia phones (or the majority of phones in India), has launched a LinkedIn app to bring the professional network to the largest number of mobile users possible in India.
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network on the Internet, with over 8 million users in India alone, and for these users, the LinkedIn Snaptu app will bring an app experience to featurephones, supporting over 2,500 devices, or around 80 per cent of the mobile space.
The app is being launched worldwide, and the Snaptu app is already being used by over 30 million people worldwide, with support for Facebook, Twitter, news, sports and entertainment services.
Snaptu has partnered with most manufacturers and also service providers so most users will not even have to take the step of downloading the app as it comes pre-loaded on their devices. According to the LinkedIn blog, users of the app can view updates, gather meeting intelligence about the customers and partners they are about to meet, and access their network directly from the phone itself.
