CEO and Founder of Amazon.com Inc, Jeff Bezos is now the richest man in modern history according to reports.
Bezos, 54, whose net worth is believed to have touched $150 billion according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, exceeds that of Microsoft Corporation founder, Bill Gates (the second richest) by about $55 billion (in inflation adjusted terms). Gates had touched the $100 billion mark in 1999 during the peak of the flourishing dot com age, worth around $149 billion today.
At 11:10 am in New York, Amazon shares were priced at $1,825 .73, extending its 2018 growth to 56 percent and giving Bezos a $150.8 billion fortune.
Bezosâ€™ net worth also rises above that of Asiaâ€™s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, while his personal fortune was just short of the Walton familyâ€™s, the worldâ€™s richest dynasty, whose fortune is believed to be around $151.5 billion.
Following Bezos on the Bloomberg Index is Microsoft founder Bill Gates at $95 billion and Warren Buffett with $83 billion.
