Indiatimes 58888 is mobile partner for ICC World Cup 2011

Indiatimes has announced that their mobile arm 58888 has been given the exclusive mobile rights for the ICC World Cup 2011. “The World Cup begins on February 19, and with over 500 million subscribers now, we hope to see significant traction from users for content downloads. We are talking to operators to make the content available on various platforms,” said Rishi Khiani, CEO, Times Internet Ltd.

Reliance Communications, which has been given the global mobile rights by ICC, has tied up with Indiatimes for all mobile activities in India. SMS, voice and video alerts, live audio commentary and mobile content downloads for 2G and 3G services all are now under the purview of Indiatimes 58888.

Other VAS services will include themed ringtones, quizzes and prediction based games as well as post-match analysis.

“Indiatimes has an exclusive and extensive network services on 58888 and is the largest aggregator in India for infotainment content. It is, therefore, a strong natural choice for us for distribution partnership. We believe that with media strength alongside Times Internet will bring great value to mobile subscribers,” said Mahesh Prasad, President, Reliance Communications.
