India Gaming Summit: A platform to understand the medium better

The first ever India Gaming Summit will be held on November 28 in Mumbai. The Summit, organised by Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd and Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), will have eminent panellists sharing their experiences with the medium and debating on issues facing it.

The Summit will have leading industry stalwarts from varied fields, including gaming, media and advertising, addressing important dynamics of the industry. Some of the international representatives for the summit include David Christensen, Sony Online Entertainment, USA; Desmond Lu Guanghang of Shanda Entertainment; Erez Naveh of Come 2 Play; and Mohit Anand of Microsoft Xbox, among others.

The topics for discussion will elaborate past, current and future trends; unravel the gaming industry value chain and the DNA of a typical gamer; and potentials of gaming as a tool to promote brands.

Commenting on the importance of this conference for Intel, John McClure, Director of Marketing, Intel South Asia, observed, “The gaming industry is becoming extremely important for Intel for three reasons. One is the fact that this community is an early technology adopter and is extremely demanding in terms of processor and platform performance. They are therefore a great community to help drive enhancements in our products. The second reason is the fact that gaming is beginning to grow quite rapidly in India, and with the proliferation of broadband, it is destined to grow even faster – so it is a good business opportunity to pursue. The third reason is that it gives us the ability to reach out to the youth segment, which is an important marketing priority for Intel.”

According to Rohit Sharma, COO, Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd, “The Indian gaming industry is now being looked at seriously by marketers and investors alike. In this scenario, there is a need for people from this industry, from across the globe – marketers, advertisers and technology experts – to get together on a common platform. The India Gaming Summit has been brought to life keeping in mind just that. We are looking forward to sharing our experiences with industry connoisseurs, in their respective fields, to take gaming to a completely different level, and towards making it a religion in our country.”
