The Indian Digital Media Awards 2011 are drawing closer, and the last date for entries is almost upon us. As we near the actual awards function, there is a lot of excitement in the industry about the second edition of the Awards. Mahendra Swarup, Chief Mentor, Smile Interactive Technologies Group, and Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar UM India, are co-chairing the Jury this year.
This year, there will be 25 Awards across five categories. The IDMA, organised by the exchange4media Group, recognise the work being done in the ever-growing advertising and marketing communications activity in the digital media space, specifically Internet, mobile, gaming, social media and the blogosphere.
Mahendra Swarup, Chief Mentor, Smile Group and Jury Chairman, IDMAm said, “I am very happy to serve on the jury for the Indian Digital Media Awards because I think that digital is one of the most important areas in advertising today. It is going to increase by leaps and bounds, and I feel that the advertiser spend on digital will continue to pick up even beyond the amazing rate it is today. It is going to become a must for all brands very soon, and so I am happy to be involved in a prestigious event like this, which will be able to showcase the creativity of advertising on the Internet, and build awareness about the medium among marketers.”
Jury member Chhaya Balachandran Aiyer, Founder-MD, BC Web Wise, said, “I was recently part of a Youth Summit organised by exchange4Media, in association with UTV Bindass. I was impressed with quality of speakers and panellists and also with the diversity of fields that they were invited from within India and across the globe. It made the Summit very exciting. I believe exchange4Media is making every endeavour to play its role in the media business in a manner that is relevant and serves the industry. Therefore, it only makes sense to be a part of another event that is being put together with an intent to serve the industry and provide more recognition for the digital media in this country. I definitely think that launching the IDMA was a very good initiative by exchange4media, and definitely is a big boost for talent in the industry to get more exposure to awards and get recognition in this field.”
The participants in the Awards are also quite positive and enthusiastic. Deepak Khanna, Director, Artificial Reality, remarked, “As a company, we believe in digital as a very strong communication medium that provides information to users in the most animated (interactive) fashion as compared to any other mediums. Participating in IDMA awards is an affirmation of setting a milestone in quality benchmark, it will help us to get identified in this competitive digital space. Selection of high quality work by IDMA and bringing it out in front of the country will definitely help others to think differently and inspire them to create innovative campaigns that will in turn enrich the user experience, qualitative information results in consumer attraction, which brings business for clients and increase in business means the increase in the economic growth pattern of the country.”
Nirvan Biswas, Business Head - Mobility, NetCore, said, “To be a part of the fraternity that recognises talent overall and also done for the first time in the industry definitely is a reason for participation. On the Indian Digital Media landscape, for a very long time we did not have a platform that would recognise not only publishers but creative talent from different genres as well at the same time. The first time the event was organised, it firstly got the industry people together and secondly, got the media to recognise such a body does exist.”
Rajiv Kumar, Founder and CEO, RockeTalk, added here, “exchange4media as a platform has a high credibility and these Awards are a triumph for the digital media domain. These Awards have provided the much needed approach to the fraternity as they aim to recognise digital media as a platform and not just technology.”
He added, “I personally feel that the Indian Digital Media Awards definitely hold a high value for not only the participants, but also for anyone and everyone who has some interest or association with digital media as a genre. On behalf of team RockeTalk, I would like to congratulate exhange4media Group and wish them success.”
This will be the second time that exchange4media is hosting the IDMA function, which last year saw nearly 500 entries. This year, too, a large number of entries have been received already, and with a few more days left for the process to close, more are still pouring in for what promises to be an impactful function, which shall bring needed focus to the digital sector of the media industry.
