Forbes ranks HindustanTimes.com among the top newspaper websites again

HindustanTimes.com has again made it to the top of Forbes 'Best of the Web' ranking by claiming the 4th best newspaper website position in the world in the foreign newspaper category.

Speaking to exchange4media, Sanjay Trehan, General Manager - Internet, The Hindustan Times Ltd. said, "The recent ranking has placed us in the top 5 amongst the likes of Guardian and we are absolutely delighted with this development. It reinforces the fact that HindustanTimes.com is truly a world-class site and is in the same league as the best in the world." The site today logs over 55 million page views in a month with an average time spent at 19 minutes, as claimed by the website.

It has been placed above the likes of Sydney Morning Herald, International Herald Tribune and South China Morning Post among others. It must be noted that the last three Forbes 'Best of the Web' reviews had ranked HindustanTimes.com 7th in the world. Forbes ranks sites in various categories, which have been selected, based on their content, design, navigation, speed and customization.

On being asked about the reason behind such success, Trehan further said , "HindustanTimes.com has a very clear agenda to provide news and news based information, which is rich, detailed and analytical and adds value to the lives of our surfers. We are very focused in our offering and benefit from the inherent strength of the mother brand while adding value to the offering in Print."

The special projects team of the website in the recent past has been credited with exclusive stories on the disappearance of Netaji which won international acclaim and more recently Project Kashmir, which had a detailed analysis on the Kashmir Elections and the history of the Kashmir impasse.

Bipasha Chanda, Brand Manager of HindustanTimes.com added, "A spate of on-ground promotion activities are conducted on a regular basis to connect with our target audience apart from above the line communication like radio and press advertising. This along with online activities like search engine optimisation, e-mail campaigns etc. and alliances with International names like Gallup, BBC and other media outfits are an ongoing process. "

HindustanTimes.com had re-launched itself few months back with a fresh face. The new-look of HindustanTimes.com offers personalized news and information, customized to the surfer's preference. Apart from the main site, the web-exclusive properties-HTTabloid.com, e-tabloid and HTCricket.com, have also been added. The launch of HT Broadband is also part of the same aggressive strategy to continue to be in the forefront of online media.
