'Facebook says it is not aware of any info misuse by device makers'

Facebook has claimed that it is not aware of any misuse of information of any user, including Indians, because of its agreement with phone or other device makers, according to media reports.

The social media giant recently received notice from the Indian government asking it to explain reports that it had shared information of its users with mobile device makers.

A media report quoted a Facebook spokesperson as saying, "We are not aware of any misuse of Facebook information including Indian users information."

The spokesman reportedly said that Facebbok appreciates the fact that the Indian government has given them an opportunity to respond on the matter.
The spokesperson is said to have explained that the purpose of its partnership with device makers was not to share information but to help the partners develop Facebook-like experiences.

Facebook said that its agreements with device makers prevent them from using information for any other purpose than to create this Facebook-like experiences.
The social media giant is facing severe criticism all over the world after it was alleged that it shared users’ data with UK-based company Cambridge Analytica.
