Dinamalar launches iPaper with interactive features

Tamil daily Dinamalar has become one of the few news publishers in the country to adopt an interactive platform called iPaper.

The platform, which is available on web, android and iOS, will allow the publication to engage more with readers through online actions such as ‘Like’, ‘Dislike’ and ‘Comment’ on the published content. The iPaper also has features such as videos, audios and Call to Action items such as, C2C (Click-to-call), C2M (Click-to-email), C2B (Click-to-Book), coupons, etc. It also comes with built-in features including, Sudoku, Crossword and quizzes.

Dinamalar has also gone live with its new secured mobile journalism technology called SmartJO. This is a highly secured content transfer system and allows direct transfer of content to the newsroom. Journalists and photo journalists can file their stories using their smartphones without any dependency on external devices for file transfer.

Speaking about the initiatives, L Adimoolam, Director, Dinamalar, said, "We are in an information economy and attention economy. To keep the readers engaged, we need to constantly innovate our delivery mechanism. One such innovation is this iPaper. We produce lots of news videos and we can engage the readers by providing editorial videos along with the editorial content. Since this iPaper has the call to action feature, there is a possibility of it leading our video advertisers to their customers with additional benefits like discount coupons, etc. As per a recent study, ads that offer extra benefits go well with the consumers.”
